Fishing for African POMPANO

Some spots are favourable to catching very large African pompano, for instance rocky plateaus of little depth (1 to 5/6 metres). These fish are wary and curious at the same time, they follow the lures until the boat … without striking … before turning around. If one has the opportunity (AND the reflex AND the rig ready!) to drop a live bait and to let it swim (without lead) and attempt to swim off in front of the predator, it is possible to witness an incredible fight as the monstrous fish positions itself to fight back, somewhat similar to the trevally.

We also catch some on a regular basis when casting with small stickbaits of type “Miss Carna” and if mounted on a small rod, the sensations are guaranteed.
